What if Craig Cobb Took Leith?

Cobb manages to move in about 19 people eventually mostly leaning on the NSM who brought in 11 of those people. But Cobb is having real trouble with his own friends Jeff Schoep is refusing to help Cobb with racial policy until he convinces the town council to continue a project meant to bring broadband internet to all residents meanwhile Tom Metzger flies out to find the property he was gifted is very dusty & run down. He is not in a place to renovate it and he needs a low air pollution area doctors orders so he quickly sells the property to the town & moves back to his nice home in rural LA county.

Meanwhile the Mayor dashes a petition to end the town’s incorporation a measure which is slowed because he doesn’t have a majority of residents so there are legal troubles & the fact newly elected Governor Burgum thinks beating Cobb at the resident game would look better with the press, a new non racist couple moves in, a sign of things to come.

So meanwhile trouble arrives as Schoep starts getting antsy he makes an offer to Mayor Schock if he finishes the broadband project that began before Cobb’s scheming & lets his men build a meeting house then he will run 3 of them against him and Cobb to prevent Cobb from becoming mayor. The dead tired & anxious mayor tentatively agrees & gets to work negotiating with the county.

Meanwhile two more families move in & everyone in the town quickly discovers Governor Burgum is personally offering plots in and around the city for rates 50% subsidized by himself personally. One of the two families is a black family who took the opportunity to escape the Minneapolis rental market. Cobb tries to harass them Schoep dismisses them saying “To have a white homeland you have to accept wandering traders will come in and out”.

A few days later everyone in town opens Facebook to find multiple big advertisements clearly running ads promising a new North Dakota program will allow families to buy one acre of property for as little as $2,000. The mayor calls Burgum at the next town meeting nobody catches it at first but he insinuates he has 50+ people interested Cobb seems to be going insane a rumor starts spreading saying he just drove to Bismarck & bought a boatload of illegal guns & is spending days in his home. Schoep simply replied on the NSM’s telegram group “It’s on” he starts promising to his members with money he doesn’t have only $1,500 land & a $500 “building credit”. The governor shaves $700 off his offer in response now the land was only $1,300.

It truly was on.

As the governor and the NSM commander began battling for who could practivally give away land concern about Cobb grew. Schoep told his members not to visit him one resident claimed she swore she in the middle of the night was awoken by an aggressive chemical smell and smoke billowing out of Cobb’s house.

Meanwhile the first numbers come in Jeff Schoep pulls 20 more members, Governor Burgum manages to pull 18 he quietly begins trying to drop the price another $300 to match Schoep’s price when taking into account his building credit it seems to be working. The first front facing business opens up just a small general store catering to residents started by one of the families Burgum moved in. Schoep makes a point of being their first customer to show the “Human face of Nazism”.

As the battle was heating up the next month’s numbers came in: 23 for Schoep 35 for the Governor who was starting to pull away but then at a town meeting light green smoke began to fill the building which left everyone coughing and running out of the building when they did they found Cobb duel wrildijg an automatic rifle & pistol. He opened fire he killed 2 residents 1 older woman & longtime resident & Commander Schoep who died shielding one of his teenage members who he had been mentoring. Cobb was restrained and arrested when cops finally made it to the town. The girl was buried under her house as she wished as a longtime resident. Schoep was sent back to Minnesota to be buried with his grandfather & mother at the family plot. Cobb was later murdered in prison after new NSM commander. Burt Colucci seemingly ordered the hit to the Aryan Brotherhood in the prison. The town mourned and rebuilded their lives as just for a moment they all forgot the chaos and division.

the next town meeting surrounded by state police to calm more worried residences the mayor decided with Colucci & the others there would be no more fighting no more hatred and division they would all adapt & build together. A few years later the town had 113 residents only 30 of them nazis. The town had a general store a diner & a mechanics shop longtime residents described the still tiny town as “bustling”. Two memorials went up one plaque outside of the meeting hall now a full city hall & a wooden sculpture of Schoep built on the property of one of the nazi’s.
